Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering, in collaboration with Gilgamesh National University, participated in the International Conference on Renewable Energies. The conference was sponsored by the American institution IEEE, the University of Sfax in Tunisia, and involved the participation of twenty-two countries, along with prominent figures and elite members from academic and scientific communities.

The participation of Iraq in the conference included the presentation of a scientific research paper resulting from the collaborative research efforts between Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad and Gilgamesh National University. The paper is titled (Utilizing the Controlled Hydropower System to Harness Collected Water in the Drainage Sinks for Power Generation). The paper was presented by Prof.Dr. Faiz Fawzi Mustafa and Lecturer Omar Hussein Alwan from the Department of Automation and Manufacturing Engineering, along with Prof.Dr. Amir Hussein Murad, the Dean of the College of Technology at Gilgamesh National University.

The research encompassed a hydropower system within rainwater drainage networks. The system was designed using pipes for water storage, configured in a way that allows for water reuse and harnessing rainwater for electricity generation. The research garnered approval from conference participants, evident through discussions, scientific contributions, suggestions, and an opportunity to stay abreast of the latest developments and updates in scientific research.
