The Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad organized a workshop entitled (The Concept of Civil Defense and the Procedures Followed in Protecting the Individual and Society), delivered by Brigadier General Dr. Muhammad Abdul Qadir, Commissioner Bilal Hamza, and Mr. Nawas Sabah Shaker from the Directorate of Civil Defense at the Ministry of Interior and in the presence of a number of professors and researchers.

The workshop aimed to introduce the most important procedures followed in case of suspicion of the presence of a hazardous substance and how to deal with mineral acids such as sulfuric acid, and nitric acid, and oxides such as rust or titanium dioxide. The workshop touched on mentioning the tasks of civil defense in providing relief and organizing safety means to reduce the risks of accidents and how to use fire extinguishers, mentioning the most important types and methods of using each of them, and the definition of first aid during fires, as well as the types of first aid, including suffocation, burns, convulsions, drowning, and fractures.
