Within the framework of cooperation between the formations of the University of Baghdad and international institutions and agencies, the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences at the University of Baghdad received a delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), which specializes in many fields of economic and social development in Iraq, in a dialogue seminar in the presence of the Dean of the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, Prof. Dr. Amira Muhammad Saleh, and the dean’s assistants, Dr. Sarmad Fouad, Director of the University Rectoral Office, and a number of college members in the scientific departments and graduate students.

The seminar aimed to develop irrigation sources and conduct technical cooperation to expand the network of associations of water users for farmers in order to manage water efficiently and effectively and transfer the Japanese experience to Iraq. The official of the Japanese delegation explained that the agency (JICA) supports the development and diversification of industry and the enhancement of economic infrastructure, as well as the rehabilitation of basic infrastructure and what the agency provided in the field of agriculture and rationalization of water consumption in this field, for its part, the Dean of the College welcomed the proposals and opinions submitted by the delegation and called for more meetings to implement cooperation between the university of Baghdad and JICA.
