The Opinion Poll Unit at the College of Mass Communication, University of Baghdad, organized an event on “The Iraqi Public’s Opinions on the upcoming Provincial Council Elections for the year 2023,” in the presence of the Dean of the College, Prof.Dr. Ammar Tahir Mohammed, and the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, along with several faculty members and postgraduate students.

The symposium aimed to understand the opinions, positions, and perspectives of Iraqis regarding the upcoming Provincial Council Elections. Additionally, it sought to explore the potential success levels for certain personalities participating in the elections. The importance of revealing the key criteria that Iraqis consider in selecting suitable candidates from the nominees was highlighted. Participants in the survey were also asked about the key entities they recommend for overseeing the elections.

One of the key findings of the survey is that there is an acceptable participation rate of around 43%. The rest consists of undecided entities who have not yet decided whether to participate or not. Electoral lists and candidates are actively seeking to win their votes in order to secure victory in the elections.
