On the occasion of Global Entrepreneurship Week, Dr. Bashir Ismail Mahmoud, a researcher at the Market Research Center, presented a lecture titled “Entrepreneurship: Your Competitive Future in the Job Market” in the center’s auditorium. The lecture covered an introduction to the concept of entrepreneurship, the types of entrepreneurship, the characteristics of a successful entrepreneur, and included an analysis and discussion of the aforementioned lecture’s opinion survey. The survey targeted a segment of students in both public and private universities.
The opinion survey included two main axes. The first assessed the universities’ potential in fostering entrepreneurial initiatives among students through a set of questions addressing this aspect. The second measured students’ capabilities, potential, and desire to become entrepreneurs in the job market, also evaluated through a series of questions.
During the lecture, several recommendations were highlighted to diagnose the tangible reality based on the conducted opinion survey. Among the most important recommendations was the need for universities to develop comprehensive plans aimed at supporting their students in establishing their own projects, both financially and morally. Additionally, emphasis was placed on organizing events focused on job opportunities and attracting leading companies in the Iraqi market to provide employment opportunities for students. The importance of universities facilitating field visits for students to explore other institutions and gain practical insights, as well as encouraging universities to invite successful companies or individuals in the business field to deliver periodic lectures to students, was also emphasized.
