As part of the activities of the Global Entrepreneurship Week organized by the University of Baghdad, Prof.Dr. Sajida Mahdi Eidan, a faculty member at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, delivered a specialized scientific lecture titled “Strategies for Assessing the Fertility of Artificially Inseminated Bulls in Iraq.” The lecture was attended by the Dean of the College, Prof.Dr. Amira Mohammed Saleh, the Head of the Department, Prof.Dr. Hossam Jassim Hussein, and several members of faculty in the college, as well as postgraduate students.

The lecture highlighted the enhancement of components within the local entrepreneurship system, as well as the encouragement of those interested in entering the field and spreading an entrepreneurial culture. There are significant challenges in achieving one of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in eliminating hunger and promoting food and nutritional security. This is especially crucial given the increasing rates of malnutrition, moderate or severe food insecurity, and poor nutrition.

The lecture revealed that the assessment of the fertility of artificially inseminated bulls in Iraq over a period of 13 years (2010-2023) was conducted through research and scientific studies involving postgraduate students. The studies encompassed analytical investigations, methods of preserving semen through freezing, the addition of natural and synthetic antioxidants to semen extenders, and the identification of genes related to bull fertility, as well as, it explored the genetic aspects of these genes in relation to the characteristics of bull semen, along with the identification of some biological indicators of bull fertility.
