The Educational and Psychological Research Center, University of Baghdad, organized the first forum for psychological counseling and educational guidance units in the formations of the University of Baghdad under the title (Development of counseling services in Iraqi universities) within the activities of the Global Entrepreneurship Week.

The forum opened with a verse from the Holy Quran and then the Iraqi national anthem, followed by a speech by the Assistant Rector for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Marwan Abdul Hamid, during which he stressed the need to focus on societal issues such as drugs and electronic extortion, considering that the guidance units at the University of Baghdad represent immunity for the Iraqi family by addressing the problems faced by students in life.

During his speech, the Director of the Educational and Psychological Research Center, Dr. Fadel Al-Saadi, stressed the effective role that falls on the Division of Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance in its units, by communicating with students effectively to address many of the obstacles that they may face in their university life to prevent them from being dragged behind other matters outside the educational process, while the attendees at the forum from officials and members of the counseling units had multiple interventions on the problems they face, as well as developing a new mechanism to receive new students at the university.

The forum came out with several important recommendations, including the need to coordinate with the Guidance Division at the Center to count the various workshops and seminars for the Center’s professors specialized in the field of psychology, as well as emphasizing the support of student activities that help raise morale in order to improve the psychological aspect.
