The College of Engineering has announced the commencement of the activities of the Global Entrepreneurship Week. The first day of this week included an introductory lecture on entrepreneurship and its role in achieving sustainable development. The lecture was delivered by Assist.Prof.Dr. Mervat Rizk Al-Taie, who is a faculty member in the Department of Civil Engineering and the Director of the Quality Assurance and Academic Performance Division.

The lecture aims to introduce the concept of entrepreneurship following the launch of the United Nations’ Seventeen Sustainable Development Goals in 2015, which include 169 indicators to measure the extent of achieving the implementation of these goals. It also emphasizes the importance of the entrepreneurship concept in achieving sustainable development goals through its three dimensions. This makes the calls urgent to build national programs and plans that place everyone at crucial crossroads, in line with long-term policies and programs for the development of human and material potentials.

It is undeniable that interconnected and synergistic benefits and interests concern all partners, supporting each other. This prompts us today to issue a call to adopt a policy of partnership for prosperity and flourishing among all members of society. Everyone endeavors to ensure that their humanitarian and cultural contributions remain symbols of the future—a platform for available opportunities in renewal, innovation, knowledge, creative talent, and a constant gaze towards the future outlined by Iraq’s Vision 2030. This vision is translated today by the current National Development Plan to achieve sustainable development goals.
