Toward Achieving Sustainable Health Development in Service to the Community, and Under the Patronage of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Abboudi, and the Supervision of the Rector of the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Munir Hameed Al-Saadi, the College of Medicine organized an awareness campaign in the field of public health for the community members. The event took place in the courtyard of the Baghdad Cultural Center on Mutanabi Street in Baghdad on Friday, the 20th of October. The awareness campaign was conducted under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Medicine at the University of Baghdad, Assist.Prof.Dr. Amin Abdulhassan Al-Alwani, along with the President of the Hypertension Association and a selection of faculty members and students from the college.

The campaign aimed to raise awareness about the serious effects of high blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholesterol on the health of patients with these chronic conditions. Additionally, it explained the harms of smoking and its negative impact on individuals’ physical well-being. Medical examinations were conducted, including blood pressure and sugar level measurements for the attendees, making significant contributions to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being – By providing medical examinations and raising health awareness, SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals – Through collaboration with the Iraqi Hypertension Society, and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities – Ensuring that healthcare services are accessible to all.

This event is part of Baghdad University’s commitment, particularly from the College of Medicine, to engage with the community and provide direct services. This aligns with the university’s goals of achieving sustainable development, contributing to the educational process, and serving our country.
