The Department of International Community Research at the Center for Women’s Studies at the University of Baghdad held a scientific symposium on the occasion of International Month for Breast Cancer Awareness, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Amir Faisal Abdul Amir, Assistant to the Rector of the University for Administrative Affairs, representing the Rector of the University of Baghdad, the Advisor to the Prime Minister for Women’s Affairs, Dr. Shahba Al-Azzawi, the Advisor to the Prime Minister for Health Affairs, Dr. Osama Majeed Al-Awadi, and a number of teachers and students.

The seminar included a talk about breast cancer and the role of social awareness of women in addressing it and the mechanism of early detection of breast cancer and the symptoms and tumors of breast cancer. Prof. Dr. Amir Faisal, Assistant Rector for Administrative Affairs, said in his speech that there are many causes of this disease, including the environment, as well as nutrition and wars, and that the University of Baghdad supports any efforts to fight this disease and its early detection. At the end of the symposium, awareness leaflets were distributed on the early detection of breast cancer, and an encouraging mural was made to address this disease.
