The Faculty Member at the College of Engineering, Department of Energy Engineering, Prof.Hussain Mohammad Taqi Al-Najjar, visited Laboratory for Plasma and Fluid Dynamics (LPFD) and other related laboratories at the (AUB) by an invitation of Professor of Nuclear Physics at AUB, Dr. Ghassan Antar, and accompanied by a number of the department’s students. This initiative comes with the aim of enhancing exchange academic cooperation between the University of Baghdad and (AUB) within the framework of the Arab Fusion Energy Initiative to help scientific institutions in the Arab world launch research projects and programs in this regard.

The scientific visit at (AUB) included specialized lectures on various topics, such as plasma physics, fusion energy applications, and engineering designs for tokamak systems, and the overall plan for the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project was also discussed. Additionally, the visit featured a presentation on the design and operation of the linear plasma device, Polaris, constructed at the American University of Beirut (AUB), Polaris is considered unique of its kind in the Arab world. Also discussion Future collaboration, including the proposal to initiate the design and implementation of an advanced toroidal plasma device at the University of Baghdad. This device aims to be the first of its kind in the region, serving educational, research, and developmental purposes.
