The College of Mass Communication at the University of Baghdad hosted a ceremony to honor the Iraqi universities participating in the Times ranking, following Iraq’s 37th position globally. The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Niam Al-Aboudi, Undersecretary for Scientific Affairs, Prof.Dr. Haider Abd Dhahad, Rector of the University of Baghdad, Prof.Dr. Munir Hamid Al-Saadi, and several university presidents and professors from different regions of Iraq.

In a speech during the event, Al-Aboudi affirmed “this accomplishment marks a significant milestone in the history of Iraqi universities, known for their rich heritage, distinctiveness, leadership, and noteworthy scientific contributions on a regional scale. It underscores that this success is a result of collaborative efforts from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, universities, and committed faculty members, all dedicated to bolstering and elevating academic standing locally, regionally, and globally.”

The event encompassed a detailed exposition of the ranking’s results, along with its standards and indicators. These standards are delineated across domains such as the educational and research environment, quality of scientific research, international perspective, and industry income.

The conclusion of the ceremony featured the commendation of universities that secured favorable positions in the Times World Ranking, emphasis was placed on the imperative to attain the objectives and mission of higher education in Iraq, aligning with global practices seen in developed nations, to enhance the educational process and contribute to the advancement of our country.
