The Iraqi National Cancer Research Center, in the presence of the Director of the Center, Dr. Kawakeb Najm Al-Din Abdullah, and in coordination with the member of the Liaison Unit for Women’s Empowerment, Mrs. Bayda Riad Badan, held a scientific symposium under the title (The Prevalence of Rheumatoid Arthritis in Women) delivered by Assistant Lecturer Zahraa Adnan, in which she touched on the disease and methods of treatment and prevention.

The symposium aimed to introduce the disease Rheumatoid arthritis which is an autoimmune disease, meaning that the immune system responsible for defending the body in the event of infections works against the body excessively, which leads to the appearance of some or all symptoms, including joint stiffness, especially in the morning or after sitting for a long time – a feeling of weakness or weakness that can be described as a state of fatigue and extreme sleepiness.

Many people suffer from the disease, which usually affects people aged 20-50, but it can also affect children and the elderly, and its prevalence increases in women at a rate of 2.5 times that of men. The symposium concluded that the methods of treating this disease consist of non-pharmacological treatments such as exercise and rest.
