The College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad and at Mahdi Hantoush Hall hosted a workshop entitled Empowering Youth to Lead Climate Action in Iraq, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid Al-Saadi, Rector of the University of Baghdad, Mr. Ali Maarij Al-Bahadli, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil, Chiara Frankini, First Secretary at the Italian Embassy in Baghdad, and a number of experts and advisers in climate action and teachers from different universities.

The workshop was sponsored by the University of Baghdad and in cooperation with the Italian Embassy, the Society of Petroleum Engineers, and the International Renewable Energy Agency, where the Rector of the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Munir Al-Saadi, welcomed the honorable attendees and stressed the importance of the climate issue for Iraq and the region as one of the factors affecting directly people’s lives, and that climate change has become increasingly influential. Al-Saadi stressed that different and diverse methods must be relied on to obtain tangible results, and he also confirmed that the University of Baghdad is ready to cooperate at all scientific and cultural levels to contain and reduce climate change and that this workshop is not an event but a platform for change and empowerment of young people to bring about the desired changes.

It is noteworthy that the workshop continues for two days on September 24 and 25 at the College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad.
