The lecturer at the University of Baghdad, College of Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Prof. Dr. Abdullah Dayeh Assi, with a group of professors, obtained a patent book issued by the Ministry of Planning, Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control, entitled “Development of an electric elevator based on tanks and weights.

Dr. Abdullah clarified that in a short period of time, elevators have become an essential machine and elevators will become a more widespread element in society, and they are really the most important mechanisms in the modern era. Accordingly, a new idea was put forward for the electric elevator by dispensing with the main electric motor using compressors, compressed air tanks, and flexible plastic pipes. When the cab wants to climb to the top or descend to the bottom, the compressors pump or discharge air to or from the tanks, so the cab becomes heavier or lighter than the weight of the balance load, and due to the force of gravity, the balance load descends and the cabin ascends or vice versa. It is also possible to dispense with the tank in the formation of the balance load and the air compressor and put instead of a weight or weight of (5 to 10%) of the weight of the cab.
