Prof.Dr.Munir Al-Saadi, the Rector of the University of Baghdad, has welcomed Dr. Mahdi Mohsen Al-Alaq,Senior Adviser of United Nations Population Fund to discuss the young societies and the wide population base for young people and youth, the population pyramid in Iraq ,and decrease total fertility rates of Iraqi women.
In his keynote speech, Dr. Al-Alaq explained that the economic burdens of the population will decrease, but it will turn into a curse if unemployment rates remain high, because this will add a new burden on the economically active and employed population only, and for this reason it is assumed that refereed and accurate development plans should be built in order to provide suitable and sustainable job opportunities. So, we can take advantage of the demographic.
At the end of the meeting, the honorable guest expressed his thanks for the good hospitality, and lauded the efforts of our esteemed university, which contributed to the advancement of scientific and research reality and its pioneering role in fostering the quality of scientific research to serve the community.
