Under the title (Traffic fines according to the new controls), The Market Research and Consumer Protection Center at the University of Baghdad held a scientific symposium in the presence of the Director of the Market Research and Consumer Protection Center, Dr. Mahmoud Abdullah Jassem, the Director of the Relations and Media Division in the Baghdad Traffic Directorate, Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Juma Mohsen, the representative of the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Public Municipalities, Chief Engineer Saad Jassim Mohammed, and a number of professors, students, and researchers.

The symposium aimed to go up the awareness of Iraqi citizens in the field of traffic safety and the relevant laws and regulations. It also stressed the importance of the development of infrastructure in the completion of roads and bridges and the provision of suitable parking spaces as well as attention to urban planning for Baghdad. The symposium also discussed the mechanism used in imposing traffic fines and explained the traffic law and awareness and guidance to adhere to traffic safety.

At the end of the symposium, the researchers recommended the need to provide suitable parking spaces and appropriate prices and planning to establish legalized parking lots and not to allow their establishment if they lack safety measures and oblige vehicle drivers not to park except in the places designated for parking.
