The University of Baghdad concluded the workshop on sustainable and smart cities at Mahdi Hantoush Hall at the College of Engineering. The workshop was held in cooperation between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), and the Iraqi National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, and in the presence of the representative of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Ammar Taha, the Assistant Rector for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Marwan Ashour, the Director of Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations, Dr. Dafaf Ibrahim, and a number of professors, researchers and students.

The four-day workshop included lectures by professors and researchers from Arab countries focused on achieving sustainable development goals and spreading environmental awareness and its role in conserving resources and distributing them to successive generations.

In conclusion, Prof.Dr. Marwan Ashour, honored the participants in this scientific workshop, thanking the efforts made by those in charge and participants, calling for more scientific contributions to serve the educational process of the Baghdad University. It is noteworthy, the Sustainable and smart cities are innovative cities that use ICTs to improve the quality of life, efficiency of urban operations and services, and competitiveness, while meeting the needs of current and future generations in terms of economic, social, environmental, and cultural aspects.
