The Computer Department at the College of Science, university of Baghdad, held a ceremony for obtaining the first rank of Iraq in the Scimago World ranking 2023 in research performance and social impact on the Iraq level, in the presence of the dean of the college of science, prof.Dr. Abdul Karim Al-Qazzaz and Assistant for Student Affairs. Assist. prof.Dr. Mohammed Sobeih, the head of computer department stressed in his opening speech of ceremony “ that result has got in this world ranking is considered a pride for college and a result product for efforts of professors, researchers , and students who had a great role for this honorable scientific achievement to be at the forefront of specialized departments in computer in Iraq” .Indicating that Scimago Rankings using objective criteria, depend on its reports of Scopus research data worldly, using a composite index that adopts three main criteria: research performance, innovation and societal impact.
For his part , congratulated the dean of the college, the computer department for obtaining the first rank , stated that this achievement come as crowing for commitment college , its affiliates in providing its mission to advance high education , refereed scientific research , integrating into community , discussing its issues and attempt to solve it . It is noteworthy, that Scimago ranking is one of the most famous rankings. It classifies more than 8084 universities of the world in this year , as well as , it is significance in the series of achievements of the college of science towards giving , creativity and excellence.
