The Poultry Diseases and Diseases Branch, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Veterinary Medicine has organized a training course entitled (Types of Lectins and their Immunopathological Role in the Infectious Diseases) that has lasted for two days. The lecturers at first lectins as being proteins that bind to carbohydrates and their types as classified according to their plant or animal sources, the mechanism of their action in stimulating the immune and inflammatory response and considering them as antimicrobials or other organisms. The first lecture dealt with some immune problems caused by the wrong use of these compounds, while the second one dealt with the practical and applied aspect of some materials in veterinary research, especially those used against bacterial infections through the use of illustrative slides.
