Prof. Dr. Faris Hassan al-Lami, the head of the Community Medicine Branch at the College of Medicine, has recently participated in the proceedings of a specialized symposium held at and hosted by the College of Medicine at the University of Al-Ameed in the holy province of Karbala in the presence of a number of faculty members, academics and physicians from various medical institutions. Dr. Faris Hassan delivered a lecture on the “Quality of Life in Cancer Patients” that dealt with an overview of the most important statistics on important types of cancer in Iraq in general and Karbala Governorate in particular. The concept of quality of life in cancer patients was also defined to uncover ways of measurement, factors affecting it according to the types of cancers and mechanisms to improve the quality of their lives.
