The Department of Journalism at the College of Media of the University of Baghdad has organized its twelfth annual festival, under the slogan (From victory to reconstruction: with science and the honest word, we achieve prosperity). This celebration came 54 years after its establishment at the College of Arts, where the festival dealt with many events and competitions, including a graduation research competition, where the first prize was won by the student Sabrin Nouri Hadi under the supervision of Dr. Shukria al-Sarraj entitled (The position of the communist press towards the referendum of the Kurdistan region).

 The second prize won by the student Ruqaya Ali Taher under the supervision of Dr. Abdul Amir al-Faisal entitled (The impact of the daily Iraqi press on the formation of political trends among students of the college of media) and the third prize was won by the student Randa Aqeel Fouad under the supervision of Dr. Widad Ghazi for her research paper entitled (The Role of the Iraqi Press in Consolidating the Concept of Democracy). Then a newspapers competition was held for the student graduation projects that dealt with the procedures adopted when writing news articles, reports, investigations, dialogues. The head of the journalism department, Dr. Shukria al-Sarraj, stated in her speech that the festival recorded the highest rate of student publications, which amounted to (25) public and specialized newspapers this year achieved through the efforts of the deanship and faculty members of the department, especially in the field of developing training supplies, developing laboratories and photography studios, as well as opening the doors of cooperation with local press institutions to train the graduates.
