The Department of Physics, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, has sponsored a training course entitled “Introduction to Optical Analyses Using UVProbe2.42 Software” in the presence of a number of students, researchers and those concerned with computer science. The course aimed to introduce the participants to the possibilities of UVProbe 2.42 in optical analyses of UV-Vis absortion spectrum, performing mathematical operations on the absorption spectrum (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division), and practicing the conversion operations from the absorption spectrum to the transmittance spectrum.

The course was presented by Assist. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Alwan Hamza, that included a training on how to calculate the space under the curve for each peak of absorption, as well as performing differential operations on the absorption spectrum, indicating the importance of conducting a process of merging or subtracting two spectra of absorption spectra, pointing out to conducting an interpolation or a normalization processes for the absorption spectrum.
