Assist. Prof. Dr. Muna Ismail Khalaf and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kazim Jawad from the Departments of Chemistry and Physics at the College of Science at University of Baghdad, have obtained a patent in conjunction with the head of chemists at the Ministry of Environment, Dr. Ahmed Khudair Kazim, on the “Preparation of isometric organic compounds for compensated pyromellitic acid with optical properties” after fulfillment of the requirements of obtaining a patent from the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control (COSQC).

The patent aimed to provide an overview of recent developments in the development of high-performance imide derivatives and their optical properties, as the UV spectrum showed the maximum wavelength of the prepared compounds –200 nm, while the direct band gap energy calculated from the TAUC model for the expected transition state was about 4.7 ev. The patent included the submission of a study on the interaction of pyromellitic imide to obtain 1,2,3-triazole terminal rings, which gave the molecule photovoltaic properties, as the prepared compounds were diagnosed with FT-IR and 1H-NMR spectrometers and the physical properties.
