The Rehabilitation, Employment and Follow-up Unit at the College of Engineering, in cooperation with the Department of Survey Engineering, has organized a workshop for the students of the fourth grade entitled (The use of electronic programs and devices to develop the skills of survey engineers in the labor market), in order to discuss the development of construction methods and the increase in the population, which called for an increase in demand for the establishment of engineering projects of various types of service, commercial, military and others. The lecturers stated that because of the wars and the terrorist operations that our country has gone through, many cities, civil and military facilities have been destroyed, therefore the reconstruction of these cities and facilities requires the presence of qualified and specialized engineering and technical staff to ensure high quality in planning, design and implementation.

One of the most important, basic and indispensable specializations in the engineering projects is the specialization of surveying engineering, so the graduates of surveying engineering should practice how to using the necessary surveying devices, carrying out topographic surveys, monitoring dams, cadastre of buildings, the necessary projection work for engineering projects in Iraq, preparing maps from images (aerial and satellite) using the necessary filling devices or using ready-made programs prepared for the purpose of processing satellite images, preparing digital and topographic maps to collect, monitor, store, update and analyze data to find results and the presentation of all information and extraction of maps using the GIS system and other programs and discussed the monitoring system by satellites and the types of its devices and the method of monitoring using total station and the method of monitoring using drones and laser scanning as well as the use of programs in engineering applications.
