The Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Ibn Sina Unit at the College of Pharmacy has organized a workshop entitled (New Techniques for Selective Treatment of Brain Disorders), delivered by Assist. Prof. Dr. Zahra Sahib al-Ahmadi, a lecturer frm the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at Nottingham Trent University in the United Kingdom, and under the management of Assist. Prof. Dr. Khalid Kazim al-Kinani, head of the Pharmaceutics Branch at the college.

Dr. Zahra Sahib dealt with the latest research and techniques used to deliver medicine to an important part of the body which is the brain, since this process requires the formulation of the drug so that it is able to penetrate the brain tissue to treat the related cases, also she has clarified and presented some animal models developed by her scientific team at Nottingham Trent University to simulate the permeability of the blood-brain barrier in some diseases and how to exploit this property to deliver the drug to the desired tissue, where laboratory evidence was presented that proves this through the design of advanced and accurate drug delivery systems such as the drug delivery system by lipid nanoparticles as well as the system of vesicles transporting the drug. The workshop included raising questions and remarks by the honorable attendees, who exceeded 100 professors and researchers.
