The News Center Unit at the College of Education for Pure Sciences (Ibn Al-Haitham), in coordination with the Department of Physics at the University of Baghdad has organized a workshop entitled “Household Waste: Money and Energy That Can Be Invested”. The workshop aimed to introduce professors and postgraduate students to household waste, its classification, benefits and the extent to which it can be used through practical applications, training, laboratory, video and statistical activities.

The lecturers defined household waste as the sum of waste resulting from household activities including restaurants, hotels and shops, which is increasing and rising tremendously. The lecturers concluded their discussion with a set of recommendations and proposals, including how to encourage garbage recycling. the role of the state and the cooperation of state agencies with businessmen to invest their money in establishing garbage recycling factories, providing free land and facilitating licensing procedures, as well as providing loans to young people from the Social Fund or the Environmental Protection Fund to establish appropriate projects.
