A delegation from the Barcelona School of Architecture in Spain has recently visited the Department of Architectural Engineering at the University of Baghdad to promote the principle of scientific and cultural cooperation between the two parties. The delegation was received by the head of the department of architecture, Assist. Prof. Dr. Dergham al-Obaidi, the head of the scientific committee, Prof. Dr. Ghada al-Salaq, with a group of faculty members as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The delegation was briefed on some of the outputs of the students of the department including a number of graduation projects, where Professor Pedro Azara gave a presentation on the Barcelona School of Architecture and Professor Christina Paradal Marge gave a presentation on the nature of research projects at their university. Then Prof. Dr. Ghada al-Salaq and Assist. Prof. Dr. Huda Alwan gave a presentation on the Department of Architectural Engineering at the University of Baghdad including the architectural design curricula at the University of Baghdad. At the conclusion of the visit, the visitors made a tour to inspect the university spaces and the central library, where the members of the delegation expressed their admiration for the students’ works and praised the good hospitality, hoping to sustain future scientific and cultural cooperation between the two universities.
