The Department of Home Economics at the College of Education for Women, in cooperation with the Rehabilitation and Employment Unit at the college, has organized a workshop for the employees and students entitled (The welfare of the family and its relationship with home economics graduates) delivered by a group of professors. The workshop aimed to identify the role of family relations and their repercussions, identifying the importance and role of home economics in building the basic building block in society, identifying the extent of family cohesion with its members, emphasizing the material and psychological role of the family and its impact on individuals, and identifying the impact of health culture within the family.

The workshop reached a set of recommendations, namely the use of wisdom and equality by parents when family problems occur, the work of awareness programs in compliance with the original religious values in raising children, interdependent and successful family relations, how to teach children mutual respect, tolerance and forgiveness and providing them with psychological support. It is noteworthy that the lecturers called for holding training courses for explaining the foundations of choosing the requirements of interior design in line with the Iraqi cultural identity and conducting seminars on cohesive family development with an effective strategic vision with the need to economically empowering women and providing opportunities in small businesses, whether by giving loans or expertise and spreading awareness of the importance of protecting the family from the negative effects of technological innovations.
