The Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences at the College of Education for Women, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, held a scientific workshop entitled (Extremism from the psychological point of view: causes and treatments), delivered by the dean of the college Dr. Ithmar al-Shatri, in the presence of a group of professors and students. The lecturer aimed to identify the concept of extremism, identifying the causes and motives leading to it in contemporary societies, and identify the best ways to reduce, prevent and confront the phenomenon of extremism.

The scientific workshop reached a number of recommendations, the most important of which is to spread the spirit of empathy among members of society through progressive education and sound social upbringing since early childhood, and studies indicate that the more education an individual is, the less orientation towards intolerance, meaning that the relationship between intolerance and education is an inverse relationship and a proper understanding of religious teachings Not to link the aggressive acts of fanatics with religion, adherence to human rights contained in all international treaties and covenants, peaceful coexistence, acceptance of dialogue between cultures and religions, educational curricula approved by the ministry of education that encourage the spread of the spirit of tolerance and flexibility, activating the role of educational guidance in reducing and reacting to intolerance.
