The Department of Computer Science, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, has organized a virtual training workshop presented by Dr. Safaa Khalil Mortada entitled “Education Systems in American Universities” with the participation of a number of students, professors and those concerned with e-learning.

The workshop aimed to identify the increasing importance of the Learning Management System (LMS) in advanced higher education, and the necessary tools provided by these systems to manage classroom accounts of students, curriculum, communication, exams, evaluation and statistics online so as to facilitate the educational process undertaken by the university, professors and students. The lecturer highlighted the clear confusion in the concepts of modern education from e-learning, blended or distance education at the academic community, indicating that there is no clear definition that distinguishes between different types of the best learning management systems used in the universities of the United States of America.
