The College of Dentistry at the University of Baghdad has organized a workshop entitled (A Roadmap and Criteria for Accreditation of the Sober Scientific Journals) presented by Prof. Dr. Ali Ismail al-Bustani and Prof. Dr. Noor Raouf al-Hasani, in the presence of a number of faculty members and postgraduate students.
The workshop aimed to inform the professors and researchers about the mechanism approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for evaluating academic journals, whether they are accredited or not, being predatory or commercial. The lecturers talked about several topics including the required steps that should be followed in determining the reliability of a journal by Scopus and Clarivate Analytics in accordance with the standards set by the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The most important recommendations of the workshop is that scientific publishing must be dealt with high professionalism and caution by the scholars for increasing their citations in scientific journals.
