The College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Baghdad has organized a festival of the Arabic language in celebration of the Arabic Language Day, in the presence of the dean of the college, Prof. Dr. Sabah Qasim. This celebration comes out of a belief in the love of the Arabic language, which God has honored with the Holy Quran: (We have sent down the Qur’an in Arabic, has explained in it the details of the warnings so that they may fear Allah, or may generate lesson from it).

The festival is a call to pay attention to the Arabic language, which was distinguished from other languages by its characteristics and phenomena such as expression, derivation, sounds, brevity, and other phenomena, which is the tool of intellectual communication and the transfer of science and culture that is indispensable, and the ceremony began with verses from the Holy Quran, then read Surat Al-Fatihah dedicated to the souls of the martyrs of Iraq from the armed forces and the Popular Mobilization, followed by a speech by the festival organizing committee, and a speech by the Brigadier General on this occasion. The festival included a variety of activities performed by a group of college students, including performing plays in the classical language, poems by participating poets from outside the college and others for college students, all of which glorify our mother tongue, as well as short stories with an expressive meaning along with colorful paintings.
