The Scientific Affairs Unit at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Women, under the supervision of its dean, Prof. Dr. Fatima Abd Maleh, in cooperation with a delegation from the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control at the Ministry of Planning has organized a qualitative workshop entitled (Mechanism on How to File a Patent). The workshop included the presentation of two lectures, the first was delivered by the Managing Director, Dr. Naim Ahmed entitled (Intellectual Property Laws), explaining intellectual property as being the inventions of the human mind in different specializations such as inventing a device, medicine, engineering designs, etc., including a brand name or a logo.

The second lecture was also presented by the Senior Chemist Abdul Rahman Ismail entitled (The mechanism for submitting a patent application according to the conditions approved by the Directorate of Patents and Industrial Designs), who asserted that a patent is a certificate indicating the registration of an invention, in accordance with Article (1_2) of Instructions No. (8) of (2000) of the Patent Law, which requires novelty, innovative step and non-obviousness, industrial applicability, providing a detailed summary of the content of the patent and its steps, starting from the submission of the application in Arabic and English, providing professional and personal information. At the end of the workshop, the assistant dean for scientific affairs and graduate studies, Prof. Dr. Suhad Haseeb has awarded the lecturers with letters of thanks and appreciation in appreciation of their efforts and effective contribution to the establishment of such workshops in the service of our beloved Iraq.
