Prof. Dr. Mawaheb Hamid al-Jubouri, a professor from the Individual Games Branch at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Women, has organized a lecture on the students of the undergraduate studies entitled (Learning during Sleep). Dr. Mawaheb al-Jubouri showed the effectiveness of sleep in the process of learning and acquiring new knowledge, especially when it comes to learning, as it is called sleep learning, that was studied since 1914 according to the study of the German scientist Rosa Heine, who showed the beneficial effects of sleep on memory and learning as it helps to improve the ability to retrieve information compared to learning during the day.

She also refereed to sleep methods: (REM) rapid eye movement sleep and (REM) non-rapid eye movement sleep, where light REM sleep helps improve behavioral performance, unlike deep REM sleep, which leads to poor learning performance after waking up. Dr. Mawaheb al-Jubouri then mentioned the positive benefits of sleep on the learning process, including strengthening memory and fixing the information gained before sleep in the brain, in addition to renewing the brain’s energy to give it a greater ability to focus and pay attention to acquire new information in the case of disturbance.
