The Scientific Affairs Unit at the College of Pharmacy held a scientific seminar delivered by the Assist. Lecturer Tayseer Hamid Shaker, a professor from the Pharmaceutical Chemistry Branch, on monkeypox and its causative factors. The workshop aimed to introduce this disease and methods of treatment.

The lecture included various topics, for example: an introduction to monkeypox, its causative factors, the incubation period of the disease, in addition to the symptoms and signs of the disease, its prevention and treatment methods. The disease is caused by the same Measles virus and the disease is transmitted from infected animals such as monkeys, rats and squirrels to humans and the disease is transmitted through the respiratory tract and contaminated blood. The disease causes a rash that spreads throughout the body, flu-like symptoms and enlarged lymph nodes. The incubation period of the disease is approximately two weeks.
