The Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences at the College of Education for Women, held a workshop entitled (Drugs among young people, causes and treatments) in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the college, delivered by Assist. Prof. Dr. Tamadher Hamid Mahdi and Assist. Prof. Dr. Nisreen Jawad Sharqi attended by a group of professors and students. The lecturers tried to identify the concept of drugs as “a group of substances that cause addiction and poison the nervous system, and the term (narcotic) refers to what the mind goes and misses because it contains chemicals that lead to drowsiness, sleep or lack of awareness, including the company of bad people who make it easy to live on the margins of life without a goal, or those who live on the health and pockets of others, the psychological state, the pressures of harsh living, the imbalance in raising the family and the loss of educational control, which results in unemployed individuals who are spinning in a deadly vacuum prone to make excuses so that they do not take responsibility.

They stressed on how to reduce the spread of drugs in society by activating the role of ministries working with each other, such as the Ministry of Justice, Interior, Culture, Education, Higher Education and Health, through holding joint scientific conferences and seminars to put hands on the illness and then determine the effective treatment for it, intensifying media awareness, concerted efforts in all social networking sites, publishing posters or scientific articles and guiding directives that show the dangers of destructive drugs and explain and show how to detect a person infected with this scourge and speed up Treating it before completely drowning in the swamp of drugs and a lot of conferences, workshops and seminars at the university because it is the destination of young people and will be effective in protecting them from drugs.
