The Department of Geography at the College of Education for Women, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, held a scientific workshop entitled: (The Environmental Importance of Indoor Plants), delivered by the Prof. Dr. Esraa Abdul Rasool from the college of education for women and that was attended by a group of professors. The workshop aimed to identify the environmental importance of houseplants and the many health benefits of their acquisition and care, as well as the tasks they perform by purifying the air from dust and mold, where the plants and other parts act as natural filters to trap allergens and other airborne particles.

Dr. Esraa Abdul Rasool reached at a set of recommendations, the most important of which is the development of a number of houseplants is the way for those looking for fresh home air, and to improve the level of psychological mood of human beings in addition to referring to the best types of plants that purify the air inside the house, especially from toxic substances such as formaldehyde, xylene and toluene, including Tulips, Chrysanthemum, ivy, Pot, Bamboo, Gerbera and Rubber Tree Plants, since the houseplants represent a good way to improve and preserve the health of the residents and adding a decorative touch.
