The rehabilitation and employment unit in the department of studies, planning and follow-up in the university of Baghdad organized a workshop for discussing and studying how to set a strategy and modern scientific programs for creating a generation of university’s graduates of different human and scientific specialties and giving them the chance for getting their way in labor market according to  specialty and actual need. Professor Samer Muhammed Jaber, director of studies, planning and follow-up department talked extensively about the nature of this workshop, hinted to the acceleration in the development of global  markets that requires distinguished skills of those who need job for the intensity of competition, from this came the importance of the rehabilitation and employment unit that the university of Baghdad hastened for establishing it to face these developments through supplying distinguishing human resources for pubic and private sectors’  institutions by improving their outputs in light with the existing requirements. The university of Baghdad was consistent with communication and opening to outside world through a number of programs for twinning with great global universities, one of which was the program for establishing rehabilitation and employment center concerned with developing the capabilities and skills of the students according to their specialties, giving them the ability to compete for getting jobs after graduation after undergoing training and rehabilitation programs during their study in addition to opening horizons for collaborating with the institutions of public and private sectors for the aim of their marketing. Prof. Samer added that the vision of the rehabilitation and employment unit towards making the skills and the capabilities of the graduated students correspondent with what the labor environment requires, so we aim for helping the graduates of Baghdad university in maximizing their scientific and practical abilities and supporting them by conversing with public and private sectors for employing them. He stressed on the significance on training as the most important step in this project since it depends in acquiring and increasing the necessary skills for excellence in labor market, also developing the skills of creative thinking and abilities for quick decision-making depending on the basis of practical logic of training, so that the employees will cope with the scientific and technological progress and having the knowledge of modern methods of labor. He stresses that the main goals they aim at through this unit lies in:

1 – Following-up the students after their appointment in public and private institutions and evaluating the scope of benefiting from their specialties.
2 – Opening lines of communication with governmental institutions and private sector for providing suitable labor opportunities for all specialties of the  graduates of the university.
3 – Preparing and implementing training programs for students from the first grade with the stakeholders.
4 – Directing and guiding students about the importance of the scientific, human and technical specialties they admitted to.
5 – Preparing scientific studies about curriculum that the rehabilitation unit participates in its development to ensure its suitability for labor market.
