About sixty male and female students from different scientific departments at the College of Science has participated in a voluntary campaign that is the first of its kind to contribute to improving the level of the environment and improving the visual scene by collecting tons of plastic waste dumped on the banks of the Tigris River, which divides the capital, Baghdad, this initiative comes under the supervision and guidance of the dean of the college, Prof. Dr. Abdul Karim al-Qazzaz.

The participating students were accompanied by the Assist. Prof. Dr. Hassan Majeed Rashid, with the aim to organize gatherings to clean public places and spread the culture of cleanliness, where such campaigns are not limited to getting rid of garbage, but also to increase environmental awareness in Baghdad, especially the banks of its river, which is a place visited usually by the Iraqi families and to pay attention towards creating a safe environment free of diseases.
