The Center for Women’s Studies at the University of Baghdad has recently organized a conference entitled (Launching a Report on Gender-Based Violence Leading to Death) in cooperation with the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, in conjunction with the 16-day campaign of activism to combat gender-based violence, in the presence of the assistant rector for administrative affairs, Prof. Dr. Karim Hassan Alwan.
The conference aimed to combat violence against women, develop their reality in society in general as well as enhance their scientific and cultural status, as well as support feminist movements to raise their awareness. The conference also witnessed many activities, including speeches by a number of public figures and faculty members, a documentary about violence and the need to eliminate it in all its forms in Iraq, in addition to a play performed by the Clinic Theater Group from the college of fine arts in this regard.
