The Department of Life Sciences, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, held a lecture entitled “The Role of Vitamin C in Oral Health” presented by Assist. Prof. Dr. Najla Nabhan, in the presence of a number of students, researchers and those concerned with medical and dental affairs.

The lecture aimed to highlight the importance of vitamin C in maintaining oral health because of its impact on the safety of gums and teeth mainly, as well as the effect of vitamin C on bacteria responsible for tooth decay and how to maintain teeth in a healthy manner, and fight oral cancer if it is obtained sufficiently and daily from humans. The lecturer then clarified the basic and rich sources of vitamin C and the amount allowed daily to be taken, as well as focusing on what happens in the mouth including changes and diseases in case of the lack of vitamin C intake and indicating the most important symptoms of vitamin C deficiency in the body.
