The Department of Astronomy and Space, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, has organized a symposium entitled “Empowering Women in Universities” in the presence of a number of students, faculty members, and those concerned with women’s empowerment committees. The symposium aimed to highlight the contribution of women to unforgettable civilizations, and what societies owe to a group of women thanks to inventions and institutions that would not have seen the light without their support.

The symposium, which was presented by Prof. Dr. Najat Mohammed Rashid, Assist. Prof. Dr. Nada Mutair Abbas, Dr. Amal Abdul Hussein, and the lecturer Zeina Fadel Kazim, included the memorization of a number of Arab women who represent luminous symbols in the march of science and knowledge, especially in the field of pure & applied sciences, indicating that the difficulties and challenges have not been able to stop them, the lecturers shed light on the most important achievements and successes presented by Iraqi and Arab women in different fields and disciplines, while the lectures pointed to the importance of identifying the law of attraction to things and changing stereotypical thinking and the impact of positive energy and breaking the barriers that create negative energy and excessive thinking in a way that enhances women’s capabilities whether scientifically or culturally to prepare a generation able to achieve the goals that serve the Iraqi community.
