The Department of Biotechnologies, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, has organized a lecture entitled “Probiotics: Health Benefits and Applications” in the presence of a number of students, researchers and those concerned with medical affairs. The lecture aimed to educate researchers and academics about the subject of probiotics and clarify some concepts related to the topic, as well as highlighting its importance for public health and a course in enhancing immunity, as well as its synergistic role with some antibiotics in eliminating some pathogens that have resistance against antibiotics.

The lecture, that was presented by Dr. Ali Abdul Hussein, included an explanation of the concept of bioenhancers or biopotentiators or bioavailability enhancers, which are useful microorganisms that are available in the form of available commercial products such as nutritional supplements that work to restore or repair the imbalance that occurs in the microorganism community in the gut due to many factors, as the imbalance in the microbial balance leads to many problems for the digestive tract in particular and the body in general, as these products are used to treat or as auxiliary factors for the treatment of some diseases or injuries.
