The Department of English Language at the College of Education for Women held a symposium entitled: “Linguistics and Other Sciences: Interdisciplinary Relations” with the participation of 13 professors from the college and other Iraqi universities and that was attended by a group of professors, staff and students. The symposium aimed to shed light on the interrelationship between linguistics and other sciences, both human and scientific, and to expand the horizons of knowledge because language is the meeting point between linguistics and various branches of knowledge, and this has led to inevitable cooperation between them, and modern linguistic research has become used by other sciences; a desire to know the secrets of the linguistic system at all levels.

The lecturers asserted that other branches of knowledge use language as a means of explaining and presenting science and recognizing the eloquent effects of linguistics on other sciences and the close link between them to the extent that one of them serves the other and does not dispense with it, as it is like a solid structure that tightens each other and encourages graduate students to study the uses of language in multiple scientific fields. Then they discussed ways to use the natural sciences, physiology, anatomy, biology and anthropology, which have recently emerged interest, linguistics and humanities such as sociology, psychology, educational sciences, mathematical terminology and their linguistic translations, language and politics.
