The College of Science for women at the University of Baghdad hosted recently an event on (Social Engineering and Security Fortification) that was attended by the assistant dean for scientific and student affairs, the assistant dean for administrative and financial affairs Dr. Adel Hussein Talib.

The seminar dealt with many themes, most notably social engineering which was clarified by the National Security Advisor at the Center of Excellence, Mr. Mohammed Abbas al-Saadi, as the manipulation and deception of human beings in order to obtain data, information or funds that should remain private, safe and inaccessible, and that is considered as a crime with dimensions and consequences at a high level of psychological and societal danger, and insisted on the importance of addressing this topic in order to spread community awareness and protect individuals from being victims of such deviant behaviors or phenomena. Mr. Mohammed al-Saadi addressed the role of social networks in this case and the importance of caution when using them as well as for applications that are installed on smart devices from unreliable sites over the Internet that may be one of the reasons leading to access to private information of the users such as photos, documents that all cab be listed as manipulation or blackmail.
