The Department of Sociology at the College of Education for Women, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Education for Women, had organized the first training course in the field of peace studies entitled (Applied Methods in Conflict Resolution and Peace Achievement) that witnessed 5 lectures as defined by the department’s curriculum.

The training course aimed to introduce participants to the approach of peace studies and conflict resolution as peacemakers through education and refine the skills of trainees in the field of peace education and education in particular, and to understand basic concepts and intellectual frameworks in the field of peace and conflict resolution in general, and to build the ability to reflect on ideas and frameworks related to the cognitive and applied aspects, and to recall the Iraqi reality and emphasize the factors of harmonization and suitability to the general context. The lecturers tried at first to define the subject of peace and conflict, identifying the developments of peace studies, conflict resolution, peace and conflict, the basics of distinguishing the field of peace studies and conflict resolution, presenting the six approaches applied in this regard, understanding the main concepts and intellectual frameworks in general and their main characteristics in particular.
