The Development and Continuing Education Center at the University of Baghdad has organized a workshop on how to empowering women as a key pillar to achieve the sustainable development goals in the presence of a number of academic figures. The workshop dealt with the discussion on the concept of women’s empowerment, its goals, types, ways to achieve this end and the extent to which the empowerment process contributes to the achievement of the desired purposes. The sustainable development agenda for the years (2015 – 2030) was addressed in this event, including 17 goals to eradicate poverty, fight gender inequality, address climate change and other topics. The lecturers concluded the possibility of employing women’s empowerment in achieving the seventeen goals with a focus on the indicators that Iraq has succeeded in achieving in fulfilling the commitments imposed.
