Prof. Dr. Sarmad al-Anssari, a professor of chemical engineering has been selected recently as one of the best researchers in the world according to the data of the Stanford University Rankings – AD Scientific Index 2023, including the top 100 scientists worldwide, in the field of nanotechnology and nanoscience. The scientists have been selected in this ranking based upon their research that were published successively and their citations in global repositories during the current month; where the results showed the emergence of researchers from the college of engineering at the University of Baghdad among the list of the best researchers in the world.

Dr. Sarmad al-Anssari won the first rank in the University of Baghdad, the fifth place in Iraq, the 1156th place in Asia and the 3114th in the world out of (1,078,792) scientists in his specialized discipline, designed for the selection of the best 2% of the world’s scientists which is a great achievement recorded by the college of engineering at the University of Baghdad in gaining the highest sobriety level among the Iraqi and Arab universities in the region. It is noteworthy that Dr. Sarmad al-Ansari had a Master’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Baghdad in 2004 and a PhD degree  in nanotechnology from the Curtin University in Australia in 2018 and currently holds the position of the director of the Office of the Rector of the University of Baghdad, also he is a Visiting Professor at the Australian Edith Cowan University in addition to being a lecturer at the University of Baghdad, having H-index=19 and more than 1150 citations according to the Scopus database.
