Prof. Dr. Ahlam Marouf Hussein and the doctoral student Zainab Hussein Fadel from the Department of Chemistry at the College of Science, have obtained a patent entitled “Preparation and diagnosis of the new compound dio- ketone (N-sulfone aminophenyl phthal) that contain the sulfamethoxazole compound active in the treatment of breast cancer. This patent was approved by the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control (COSQC) after the fulfillment of the related requirements. The study included the diagnosis of spectral prepared compounds using (13C-NMR, 1H-NMR, FT-IR) spectroscopy with the study of the anti-breast cancer efficacy on human cells after conducting the study on cells effected with cancer and other living ones for comparative purposes.
